The basic structure is simple: three players are dealt 12 or 13 cards (the dealer gets one extra), and the goal is to form sets and runs — called melds — to empty your hand or have the lowest unmelded card total when a "draw" is called or when a player calls "Tongits." But the depth of the game comes from the decisions layered on top of that simple skeleton.
Do you dump your high-value cards early to reduce your count or hold them to build a powerful meld? Do you grab cards from the discard pile even when it signals your strategy? Each of the three players receives 12 cards. The dealer gets 13. Remaining cards form the draw pile.
